A floor lamp used as a display device as well as an illumination device includes a pedestal and a base having an upper part, which is provided with a light source, and a lower part. The base is attached at the lower part to th e pedestal in such a manner that the ratio of the length of the base to the width of the pedestal is less than or equal to 6:1 in one aspect.
