This invention regards a production process for the manufacture of a non-fabric fabric starting from pure cotton fibres comprising, in series, the steps of a. degreasing and hydrophilic treatment of the initial fibres, b. opening the fibres by way of a combing process with carding cylinders, c. depositing the fibres on a belt to form a mattress of non-fabric fabric with a weight per square metre which depends on the final use, d. subjecting this mattress to a water-jet treatment to add consistency and stiffness, e. oven drying the mattress, f. transferring the mattress to a reel, and g. cutting the mattress to the size required for the final use.
