PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for stably producing an aminomethylpyridine compound in high yield by using an easily treatable reaction accelerator when producing the aminomethylpyridine compound by subjecting a cyanopyridine compound to hydrogenation reaction in the presence of a sponge metal catalyst. SOLUTION: The hydrogenation reaction is carried out in the coexistence of an alkali metal hydroxide and a tertiary amine compound of formula (3) when producing the corresponding aminomethylpyridines of formula (2) by subjecting the cyanopyridine compound of formula (1) to the hydrogenation reaction in the presence of the sponge metal catalyst.
