PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic tape reproducing device wherein the projection quantity of a magnetic head is automatically adjusted in accordance with the reproduced output from the magnetic head and wearing of the magnetic head and a magnetic tape can be suppressed. SOLUTION: The projection quantity of the magnetic head H is adjusted in accordance with the reproduced output read out from the magnetic head H to adjust the contact of the magnetic head H and the magnetic tape MT and two guide rollers 1 and 2 are moved to mitigate load due to projection of the magnetic head H.
