The invention relates to a woven fabric belt device, e.g. an endless wire be lt for papermaking and pulping machines, in which a connecting device (7a.prime .; 7b.prime.) is provided at at least one end of the woven fabric belt (20.prime., 21.prime.) and can be joined via a releasable joining means (9) to another connecting device (7b.prime.; 7a.prime.) of the same or of another woven fabric belt. A number of specified longitudinal threads (2.prime., 2.prime..prime.) are removed from the woven fabric (20.prime.) along a secti on (4.prime., 4.prime..prime.) assigned to the end of the woven fabric belt. Th e sections (4.prime., 4.prime..prime.) with the removed longitudinal threads (2.prime., 2.prime..prime.) are arranged in an overlying manner on at least one side of the woven fabric belt (20.prime., 21.prime.) in an area in front of the connecting device (7a.prime.; 7b.prime.) so that these sections form a support (10.prime.; 10.prime..prime.) for protecting the connecting devices (7a.prime.; 7b.prime.) when the woven fabric belt is running over a working surface (AF). According to the invention, the sections (4.prime.) with the removed longitudinal threads (2.prime., 2.prime..prime.) are woven around transversal threads (11.prime., 12.prime.) and woven backwards therewith.</S DOAB>
