PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a communication terminal transmitting diagnostic data indicative of the condition of its own unit to an external diagnostic unit, in which the diagnostic data is transmitted to the external diagnostic unit while being added with a data name so that the data name for each data item of the diagnostic data is stored. SOLUTION: A facsimile 2 to be diagnosed stores a diagnostic table storing the data name and a size concerning each item of the diagnostic data of its own unit. When the diagnostic data are transmitted to the external diagnostic unit 4, they are added with the data name and the size before being transmitted. The external diagnostic unit 4 adds the data name as a tag to the diagnostic data, subjects the name data to XML conversion, sends them to a database server 12, and inputs them to a database.
