PURPOSE: A method for inputting a Korean alphabet through a new expandable keypad is provided to express most consonants and vowels of the Korean alphabet including basic consonants and basic vowels at a time with a key-in function, thereby reducing the number of key-in times and improving input speed of the Korean alphabet. CONSTITUTION: A controller sets to extract consonants and vowels of a Korean alphabet corresponding to pressed keys(210). The controller sets an operating method for inputting characters from a keypad(220), and selects an operational mode to change input modes of numbers, English alphabet, and the consonants/vowels of the Korean alphabet by using functional keys when inputting the Korean alphabet(230). A user combines specific Korean characters, and the controller turns on back light for buttons corresponding to combinable consonants/vowels by a key-in function(240).
