PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound having triplet emission complex structure in the molecule, having excellent characteristics such as luminous efficiency, and capable of forming a luminescent layer by a coating method. SOLUTION: The complex having phosphorescence is represented by formula (1) [wherein, Y is a ligand; M is a metal atom capable of causing intersystem crossing between a singlet state and a triplet state in the compound by spin-orbital interaction; Ar<SB>1</SB>is a residue after removing j hydrogen atoms from a ligand; X is a direct bond or an alkylene group; Z is a group represented by formula (2) (R<SB>1</SB>is an alkyl group, an alkenyl group or a bond to X; R<SB>2</SB>and R<SB>3</SB>are each a halogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group or a bond to X; one of R1, R2 and R3 is a bond to X; (a) and b are each 0-4); j is 1-3; l is 1-3; and m is 0-3].
