PURPOSE: A system and a method for installing a software application in a non-impactfull manner are provided to enable the download of the installable software application from a remote location without impacting the already-installed software applications. CONSTITUTION: A user of a client computer(120) connects to a server(102). The server provides a web page or other resource to use a file resident in a server data storage(110). In response to selection such as link by the user, an application manifest(112) is brought down to the client computer. After examining the application manifest, an application code(115) is downloaded from the server and installed to the client computer if the application is not installed to the client computer.
