<p>An arresting device, comprising a plurality of jaws (34) for arresting the side face of an arrested member, support shafts (35) rotatably supporting the jaws so that the jaws can be opened and closed, first energizing means (36) for energizing the jaws so that the jaws can be opened, a jaw open/close driving member (62) installed between the jaws movably in a direction close to and apart from the arrested member and, when moved in one direction, pressing the base end parts of the jaws to rotate the jaws, a second energizing means (63) energizing the jaw open/close driving member in one direction to close the jaws, and a temporary locking part (66) installed on the jaw open/close driving member, engaged with the base end parts of the jaws to stop the movement of the jaw open/close driving member in one direction and, when a specified or more force acts on the jaw open/close driving member in one direction, allowing the jaw open/close driving member to move in one direction.</p> |
