PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a speed reducer of a construction machine, capable of stably maintaining the sealing performance of a floating seal for a long period of time. SOLUTION: The speed reducer of the construction machine for running a lower runner by the rotation of a rotation side casing 11 comprises the rotation side casing 11 to be rotated/driven by reduction gears, a fixed side housing 10 fixed on the lower runner side for closing one end opening of the rotation side casing 11 so that the casing can be rotated, and the floating seal 26. The floating seal 26 consists of a pair of seal rings 22 and 23 supported by O-rings 14 and 15 respectively on the inside of the fixed side housing 10 and the rotation side casing 11 for sealing the gap between the fixed side housing 10 and the rotation side casing 11 by sliding each other when the rotation side casing 11 is rotated. In the floating seal 26, the whole seal rings 22 and 23 are coated with phosphate coats 22b and 23b formed on sliding faces 22a and 23a of the seal rings 22 and 23. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
