PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rope receiving roller 10 for preventing abrasion of an elastic wheel 12 by friction with a hub 11. SOLUTION: An elastic wheel engaging groove 11a formed continuously circumferentially is disposed between collar parts 112 and 112 on the outer periphery of the hub 11 rotatably disposed on a shaft, and the elastic wheel 12 made of rubber-like elastic material having circumferential ends for receiving a rope strip 3 is engaged with the elastic wheel engaging groove 11a. Both circumferential ends 121 and 122 are stacked and unevenly engaged with each other in a state where an outward engaging recessed part 121a and an inward engaging projecting part 122b, an engaging step part 121c and an engaging step part 122c, and an outward engaging projecting part 121b and an inward engaging recessed part 122a are tightly contacted with each other, respectively.
