PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To downsize an image pickup device itself, and enhance the recognition accuracy of a reading object. SOLUTION: In this image pickup device 1 a total reflection mirror 15 bending an optical path L by about 90 degrees is arranged on the optical path L between a reading object 2 and a lens system 7. The lighting system 5 thereof is arranged between the total reflection mirror 15 and the lens system 7, radiates light toward the total reflection mirror 15, and is provided with small visual field lighting 16 making a large elevation angle α against the bottom face 2a when indirect light reflected by the total reflection 15 is incident on the bottom face 2a of the reading object 2. |
