<p>Permanent waving and straightening product for treating pair or keratinous fibres is based on thiolactic or thioglycolic acid (or ammonium or alkali metal salt of these acids) and an alkaline agent consisting of the carbonate of an alkali metal amino acid salt instead of NH4OH.
