PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a broadcast receiver capable of reducing standby power attended with transmission of view history information. SOLUTION: The broadcast receiver for transmitting view history information of a received broadcast program to a center through a communication means includes: an operation time management means 204, 207 for managing the transmission time of the view history information; a timer means 209 for counting the time; a comparison means 208 for comparing the count time counted by the timer means with the operation time managed by the operation time management means; a power supply control means 210 for controlling the main power supply 211 of the broadcast receiver on the basis of a comparison result by the comparison means; a view history information management means 205 for managing the view history information; and a view history information transmission means 206 for transmitting the view history information. When a present time reaches a transmission time of the view history information, the main power supply is turned on to reduce the standby power. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
