VLAN-ID REWRITING SYSTEM IN ETHERNET (R) FRAME INCLUDING VLAN-ID

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a virtual local area network (VLAN) ID rewriting system whereby a communication disabled state caused by dissidence of IDs can be eliminated in the case that a plurality of networks each having an individual ID decision method are interconnected. SOLUTION: The VLAN formed by interconnecting a plurality of Ethernet networks (NX, NY) is provided with a converting apparatuses (CONVX, CONVY) for converting a user ID of the one Ethernet network into a user ID of the other Ethernet network placed at interfaces to which a plurality of the Ethernet networks are connected. The converting apparatuses can maintain the uniqueness of the user IDs in the entire VLAN that is newly formed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
