1283010 Cooling reactors BABCOCKATLANTIQUE 5 July 1971 [6 July 1970 31333/71 Heading G6C In a fast neutron, sodium-cooled nuclear reactor, an inner chamber, containing the reactor, is mounted within an outer chamber and the inner chamber accommodates heat exchangers in which secondary sodium is heated by primary sodium flowing through the reactor. The heat exchanger tubes are formed in planes arranged parallel to each other. The reactor, 22, and the heat exchange tube plates P, P 1 , P 2 , to P n are mounted in the inner chamber, 21, which is supported inside the outer chamber, 20. The wall of chamber 20 is cooled by the tubes 35 and by the exchanger supply tubes 32. Primary sodium flows from the reactor, through the passages 36 to 39 downwards through the exchangers in the extended portions 24 to 27 in the chamber 21.
