The invention relates to a system for transmitting audio data between a master unit and slave units by means of a digital communication network. The inventive system comprises a master unit (1) and slave units (2) that can be connected in a chain and/or star configuration by means of a digital communication network, e.g. Ethernet-type network. Said system is synchronised on the clock of the master unit which supplies synchronisation information over the network to all the data frames. Each slave unit recreates the clock from the frames received. The data frames comprise data packets which can be, in particular, control data, audio data or video data. Each packet comprises a header describing the contents of the packet. Each slave unit is aware of the location in the packet of the data intended for same and of the location in the packet where data can be introduced. |
