The invention relates to a payment system for cashless transactions, with payment substitutes, in particular with bearer, order or neutral cheques, transfer or payment forms, exchange or share deeds and similar, or with tokens and a method for carrying out the cashless transaction. In order to protect the payment system against misuse and fraud, a multi-stage security system is carried out using data transfer by means of communication devices between customer and accepting office, based on a multiple irreversible status change for each payment substitute bearer, comprising at least one status change to be executed by the customer for authorisation of the payment substitute bearer. Before each status change a verification of the authorisation code given by the sender and a condition for payment of the payment substitute bearer by the accepting office is a release authorisation given by a communication device to the accepting office. |
