Radial shaft sealing ring

The radial seal for a shaft (5) comprises an annular metal base (2) which carries a rubber ring with a sealing lip (13). This is pressed against the shaft by a spiral spring (4). The working plane (12) of the sealing lip before the seal is fastened in place is different to the working plane (11) of the spring, but the planes coincide when seal is in position.
