PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of improving for yield of pulp in a modified continuous cooking method or the whole boiler isothermal cooking method by providing an effective method for using a quinone compound and a polysufude in alkali cooking. SOLUTION: The method feeds the quinone compound from a chip feeding system in the method which carries out the modified continuous cooking or whole boiler isothermal cooking method by feeding a polysulfide cooking liquor corresponding 50-90% of the total cooking liquor into the cooking system from the chip feeding system, and feeding a craft cooking liquor corresponding to 10-50% of the total cooking liquor from a circulating system of a digester. The cooking is carried out by feeding lignocellulose material containing 0.001-2.0 wt.% of the quinone compound from the chip feeding system, and/or feeding the polysulfide cooking liquor containing 0.001-2.0 wt.% of the quinone compound from the chip feeding system.
