PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a marking unit containing a rangefinder without necessity of a direct range measuring means or an indirect range measuring means except a marking unit, by building the rangefinder by utilizing a constitution peculiar for the marking unit in the marking unit or without necessity of a plurality of persons to measure the range. SOLUTION: A laser marking unit emits a laser beam from a laser beam source, diffuses the beam only in one direction to emit the laser line beam to a material to be illuminated. The marking unit measures the distance from a reference position of the unit to the material to be illuminated. The rangefinder 16 is one in which the laser beam source of the unit is used.
