PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic loading apparatus that is as small and light weight as possible. SOLUTION: The automatic loading apparatus 10 includes: a tray 12 that reciprocates between an ammunition carrying position and an ammunition loading position while carrying ammunition 1; a rammer body 13 reciprocably provided on the tray 12; a rammer body drive 14 for reciprocating the rammer body 13; a slider 17 reciprocably provided at the rammer body 13; a rammer 15 supported on the slider 17; and slider drive means 18 to 24 for moving the slider 17 to the front end of the rammer body 13 when loading the ammunition 1 into a cannon 104, in such a manner that the rammer 15 is protruded out of the rammer body 13, an for moving the slider 17 to the rear end of the rammer body 13 when mounting the ammunition 1 on the tray 12, in such a manner that the rammer 15 is retracted from the rammer body 13.
