PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a machine for treating garbage in which the environmental problem is considered much more, by making effective use of waste energy. SOLUTION: This garbage treating system is provided with an incinerator 100 from which are combustion gas generated by burning the object to be burned is discharged to the atmosphere through an exhaust stack 102, a branched pipeline 103 branched from the stack 102 of the incinerator 100, a heat exchanger 200 installed on the pipeline 103, an air sucking pipeline 203 for introducing the atmospheric air which acquires the calory from the combustion gas in the exchanger 200 as suction air, a temperature-adjustable and efficiency variable heat exchanger 300 installed in the middle of the pipeline 203 for adjusting the temperature of the sucked atmospheric air in the pipeline 203, and the garbage treating machine 400 which houses a microbe-mixed treating medium in the treating vessel 10, heats the treating medium by the heat of the sucked atmospheric air from the pipeline 203, and decomposes the fed garbage by a microbe to reduce the volume of the garbage.
