PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an upright type vacuum cleaner preventing a hose from collapsing even if a body falls rearward. SOLUTION: This upright type vacuum cleaner is provided with a nozzle part 7 sucking dust, the body 8 connected to the nozzle part and having a fan motor 18 for sucking the dust and a dust collecting chamber 9 for collecting the sucked dust in its inside, a handle part 10 provided in the body for operating the cleaner, and a carrying hose 11 provided between the nozzle part and the body and leading the dust to the dust chamber 9. This upright type vacuum cleaner is so formed that the carrying hose 11 is disposed inside a support surface which supports the hose when the body 8 falls rearward, so that even if the body falls rearward, the hose is prevented from collapsing.
