PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic disc drive optimum for high-speed accessing by making the disc support small and light in weight. SOLUTION: This magnetic disc drive to record and reproduce information on a magnetic disc has a rigid arm 41 disposed apart from the magnetic disc surface 1, a magnetic head support 32 with its one end being supported by the rigid arm 41 and with its flexible section extending in the direction to the disc 1, and a magnetic head 2 disposed at the free end of the support 32. The gap of the magnetic head 2 is formed on the surface side of the support 32 facing the magnetic disc 1, and the coil 200 of the magnetic head 2 is disposed on the other surface side of the support 32.
