A food pasteurization assembly has a feed conveyer belt (5) and/or a discharge conveyer belt (9) which are located close to and either side of the edge of the transport conveyer (3). The feed belt transfer point is located above the plane defined by two rollers (7, 8) linking the transport conveyer belt. The pasteurization assembly has a central food transport conveyer belt (3) moving between two rotating drums (7, 8). A lateral feed conveyer belt (5) on one side is narrower than both the transport belt (3) and a lateral transverse discharge conveyer belt (9). Product transfer from the feed belt (5) to the transport belt (3) and from the transport belt to the discharge belt (9), is effected by rotating bars (10, 14) which push the product down a slope (4, 19) near the drums (7, 9). The feed and discharge conveyer arrangement minimizes the transfer distance between belts. The transport conveyer is several times wider than the feed conveyer and advances at a much slower speed. Very few or no products remain on the transfer surface during product change-over.
