Exhaust purification system with fuel reformer producing hydrogenous gas, includes heater for exhaust side stream supplied to fuel reformer

An exhaust gas heater (6) is provided. This heats an exhaust side stream supplied to the fuel reformer (7). The heater has a spiral, axially-running channel to supply the exhaust gas side stream. A high temperature heat exchanger (8) exchanges heat from gas leaving the reformer (7) to gas entering it. The exhaust supplied to the reformer optionally passes through the heater (6) and the high temperature heat exchanger (8). An oxidation catalyst and/or Denox catalyst is/are included in the exhaust gas line (2). An additional Denox catalyst is included downstream of the oxidation catalyst. The reformer gas is supplied to the inlet of the oxidation catalyst and to the output of the Denox catalyst in the exhaust line.
