<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure safety of an occupant seated on a second row seat mounted so that the occupant may be seated on the rear side of a front seat and the front side of a rear seat. <P>SOLUTION: In this air bag device for a vehicle, the second row seat 20 is disposed to have either one of a mounting state in which the seat 20 is mounted on a floor 1 on the rear side of the front seat 10 and the front side of the rear seat 70 so that the occupant 7 may be seated and a non-mounting state in which the seat 20 is mounted so that the occupant 7 may not be seated. The device is provided with an air bag which is mounted at a prescribed portion in the interior, before the position where the second row seat 20 is mounted so that the occupant 7 may be seated and is deployed toward occupants 7 seated on the rear seat 70 and the second row seat 20, and second row seat state detection means 38 and 39 for detecting which of the mounting state and the non-mounting state the second row seat 20 is in. Receiving outputs of the second row seat state detection means 38 and 39, deployment pressure of the air bag or the size when deploying the air bag are changed according to the state of the second row seat 20. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
