PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for printing an image on a printing medium having an irregularly shaped outline. SOLUTION: The printer is for printing on a printing medium mounted on a tray capable of mounting at least one sheet of a plurality of printing media having printable areas of different shapes. According to the printer, since the shape of the printable area of the printing medium mounted on the tray can be determined by acquiring the information related to the printing medium mounted on the tray, an image can be printed on a printing medium having an irregularly shaped outline.
