PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phenol resin composition having low moisture absorption properties and a method for producing the phenol resin composition. SOLUTION: The method for producing a polycyclopentadiene-modified phenol resin comprises reacting a polycyclopentadiene and a phenol compound by blending the polycyclopentadiene and the phenol compound so that a molar ratio of the former to the latter is 1 to 1-1 to 20.
