PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intermittent board adhesive having such a particle size as approximately equal to that of starch, and therefore scarcely outflowing together with water in a dehydrating press part or a suction part, capable of being enhanced in adhesion when compared with dispersions composed of well-known synthetic polymer fine particles, and capable of exhibiting excellent interlaminar strength when used in neutral or alkaline paper making, and to provide a method for producing board, by using the adhesive. SOLUTION: This intermittent board adhesive comprises a dispersion of ionic polymer fine particles having a particle size of≤100μm, wherein the ionic polymer fine particles are obtained so that an ionic water-soluble monomer, including itaconic acid, and a nonionic monomer which is copolymerizable with the ionic monomer are subjected to dispersion polymerization in an aqueous salt solution with stirring, by making a polymeric dispersant which is soluble in the aqueous salt solution coexist with the monomers.
