PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that the temperature of the gas varies according to its pressure when the gas has a variable and rapidly changing pressure, such as typically found in inspiration and expiration gases during mechanical respiratory aid, inaccuracies in the measured gas ratio can occur. SOLUTION: An acoustic gas meter stated in Claim 1 and characterized by Claim 1 is provided. By providing a temperature probe having an elongate sensor region, by using a plurality of point sensors provided with publicly known spatial interrelation, for example, or else more simply stating, by employing a length wire of publicly known temperature versus electrical resistance characteristics, the average temperature of gas within the acoustic path traversed by the acoustic energy can be monitored.
