PURPOSE: An exhaust brake device interlocking with a foot brake and the control method are provided to reduce the running speed of a vehicle by making an exhaust brake operated according to the pedal pressure in suddenly braking. CONSTITUTION: An exhaust brake device interlocking with a foot brake forms an exhaust brake valve(22) in an exhaust pipe(21), and a suction shutter(23) for preventing exhaust gas from being overlapped to a suction manifold and preventing noise. The exhaust brake device comprises a pedal pressure sensor(31), an ECU(Electronic Control Unit,50), and a magnetic valve(40). The pedal pressure sensor is formed to the lower side of a foot brake pedal(30), to measure the pedal pressure of the foot brake pedal when a driver steps on the foot brake pedal. The ECU decides whether the value measured from the pedal pressure sensor is over a reference value and controls the opening and shutting of the exhaust brake valve. The magnetic valve supplies pneumatic pressure to make the exhaust brake valve rotate in the closing direction by control of the ECU, if the value decided from the ECU is over the reference value.
