PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filtering method and an apparatus therefor which achieve excellent filtering performance with a better flow of fluid by preventing close contact between an outlet side container and filtering elements. SOLUTION: The filtering method for liquid such as blood is characterized in that external force is applied onto a filter from the outside to deform it so that a space is formed between the internal surface of the container at least on the side of the outlet of a filtrate to perform filtering. This method is used to remove the external force after the end of the filtering to recover the liquid. A means which applies the external force from outside the filter to form the space is to mount, for example, a bending utensil on the filter or a pulling utensil thereon. As a result of the filtration using the means, it is noted that the uniformalization of flow enhances the effective utilization rate of the above filtering elements, thereby shortening the time for treating the liquid.
