PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To positively prevent the overlap feed of sheets to reduce sheet feeding resistance caused by a separating means. SOLUTION: This sheet feeding device for feeding the stacked sheets while separating them sheet by sheet, is provided with a feed roller 4 for feeding the stacked sheets; a pressure plate 5 having a separating sheet 26 for imparting frictional force to the abutting sheet, and pressing the stacked sheets to the feed roller 4; and a separating pad 6 having a rubber member 6a for imparting frictional force to the sheet fed by the feed roller 4, and separating the fed sheets. When the friction coefficient of the feed roller 4 and the sheet isμ1, frictional resistance between the separating sheet 26 and the sheet isμ2, and frictional resistance between the rubber member 6a and the sheet isμ3, it is constituted to establish the relation ofμ1>μ2≥μ3.
