PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve NVH characteristic of a tripod type constant velocity universal joint regulating displacement of a retainer to half of displacement of a guide block. SOLUTION: Raceway grooves 3, 8 are provided on both sides of the guide block 6 supported by a leg shaft 5 of a tripod member 4 and a side surface of an outer wheel track groove 2, and a plurality of rolling elements 9 built in a space between the raceway grooves 3, 8 are retained by the retainer 10. A middle part of a lever 21 is rotatably supported by a plate body part 10a of the retainer 10 and a guide groove 25 is provided at both end parts of the lever 21. A projection 23 inserted in one guide groove 25 is fixed on the outer wheel 1 and a projection 24 inserted in another guide groove 25 is fixed on the guide block 6 to regulate displacement of the retainer 10 to half of displacement of the guide block 6. Whole plural rolling elements 9 roll along whole displacement range of the guide block 6 to improve NVH characteristics. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
