PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an enhanced image capturing device and method for event monitoring. SOLUTION: The image capturing device includes: an electronic image sensor 108; a memory 121 including a frame buffer 129 for storing at least one digital image frame; and a processor 103 making communication with the electronic image sensor 108 and the memory 121. The processor 103 conducts an image capture of a digital image frame in the frame buffer 129 and compares the digital image frame with a stored still picture frame 134 to extract predetermined events in the digital image frame.
