PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an arrangement for minimizing the effect of ink drops scattered by springing of a blade while occupying a small space. SOLUTION: The ink jet recorder performing recording using an ink jet recording head provided with a nozzle having an opening for ejecting ink and an ink channel communicating with the ink ejection opening comprises a tub-like member movable to face the surface of the ink jet recording head including the ink ejection opening and receiving ink discharged from the ink jet recording head, and a rotary member disposed on the inside of the tub-like member wherein the rotary member has an elastic member abutting against the surface of the ink jet recording head including the ink ejection opening and wiping off residual ink drops discharged from the ejection opening.
