PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To receive a distrusted program by easily acquiring and automatically designating a multicast address for distributing the relevant program by multicast only by selecting the desired program by a user.

SOLUTION: In the information distribution system, broadcast contents are distributed to an IP network 200 by using the multicast address, and desired contents are received in a home gateway 301 of a terminal 300 connected to the IP network 200. A program guide server 102 holding the multicast addresses to be used for distributing the contents is provided, the multicast address of the desired contents is acquired by performing access from a program selection terminal 305 to the program guide server 102 via the IP network 200, and the desired contents are received by the home gateway 301 on the basis of the relevant multicast address.
