<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a quicksand water tank which uses sand as a fluidized bed filter medium and can perform aerobic and anaerobic treatment. <P>SOLUTION: Coral sand 24 of a fine grain size is laid about 10 cm in average on the bottom of the thin and shallow water tank 10 and a sewage pump 40 is installed at the center of the water tank 10. The water mingled with the sand is drawn up from the central part of the sewage pump and is discharged from a front end 30 of a drain pipe arranged in the diagonal position of a low layer. The waste water treatment of aerobic bacteria is made vigorous by the quicksand and in addition, a bar is formed in the rear segment of jet flow. The aerobic treatment by aeration in the lower layer is induced below the vertex of the bar and the excrement of fish and shellfish is deposited within the bar generated on the periphery thereof, by which an anaerobic reaction is induced in the inside. The water tank may also be provided with a water level regulating pump 44 for artificially creating an ebb tide and high tide and an expansion with a tidal flat is possible as well by forming gravel and a reef in the water tank. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
