PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing maraging steel, which can make sizes of non-metallic inclusions such as TiN and TiCN, which remain in the maraging steel obtained with a VAR method (a vacuum arc remelting method), to 15μm at the maximum. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the maraging steel is characterized by using an electrode in which the sizes of nitrides and carbonitrides existing in the electrode used for the vacuum arc remelting are adjusted to 10μm or less, when manufacturing the maraging steel with the vacuum arc remelting method. The method for manufacturing the maraging steel preferably employs a chemical composition for the above maraging steel, which comprises, by mass%, 0.01% or less C, 8.0-22.0% Ni, 5.0-20.0% Co, 2.0-9.0% Mo, 2.0% or less Ti, 1.7% or less Al, 0.0015% or less O, and the balance substantially Fe.
