PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the occurrence of display irregularity and insufficient contrast in an image display device having a relatively large display area by writing display data onto data signal lines with a desired signal voltage level. SOLUTION: A data signal line driving circuit SD continuously samples input video signals DAT in response to generated sampling signals and successively outputs the sampled display data to data signal lines. The pulse width of the sampling signals is made twice as wide as a data supplying interval. The data signal lines are precharged by display data which are one data before the present data and then, the lines are charged by true display data. A timing control circuit CTRL generates timing signals MCLK and RE so that the display data being supplied at the first time from a line memory 1HMEMO2 to the circuit SD are outputted with the time that is double the time length of the display data being supplied after the first display data.
