PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hybrid gas generating device and a spark type gas generator that are used in an automotive safety device to inflate an air bag. SOLUTION: The hybrid gas generating device has: the spark type gas generator comprising a body having a spark type igniter and having a first and a second end, and a flexible element mounted on the second end of the body to store powder; and a reservoir of pressurized gas mounted on the spark type gas generator at the first end of the body. The spark type igniter, during an operation, starts burning the powder stored in the flexible element to release the pressurized gas stored in the reservoir. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
