<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus that can suppress tile border distortion by applying low pass filtering to pixels in the vicinity of a tile border while designating an optimum range depending on the number of wavelet transform levels at encoding. <P>SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus includes: a tag processing section 71; an entropy decoding section 72; an inverse quantization section 73; a two-dimensional wavelet inverse transform section 74; a color space inverse conversion section 75; and a tile border smoothing section 76. The image processing apparatus applies inverse quantization to image data decoded by the entropy decoding section 72, applies inverse wavelet transform to the inversely quantized image data, and applies color space inverse conversion to the data to convert the data into RGB data. The tile border smoothing section 76 designates a range of applying low pass filtering to pixels with a closer distance from pixels at the tile border among the pixels of the RGB data subjected to the color space inverse conversion depending on the number of wavelet transform levels at. encoding and applies adaptive low pass filtering to the designated range. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
