PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive electric discharge machining machine in which a shank of an electrode is slightly improved and an automatic exchange of the electrode and a workpiece is simple. SOLUTION: In this profile electric discharge machining device 1, a tool electrode 20 provided with the shanks 22 at upper and lower surfaces is accommodated in an automatic tool changer 50 with the workpiece 21. When the profile electric discharge machining device 1 installs the tool electrode 20 to a chuck 40 on a machining table 12, the automatic tool changer 50 transfers the tool electrode 20 to a machining main shaft 15 using the shank 22U on the upper surface and the machining main shaft 15 attaches the tool electrode 20 to the chuck 40 on the machining table 12 using the shank 22L. The workpiece 21 is replaced by the machining main shaft 15 by the automatic tool changer 50 as conventional. In the case where the workpiece 21 is a grinding wheel, the exchange of the tool electrode 20 and the grinding wheel can be automated by the profile electric discharge machining device 1.
