PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent preceding and subsequent papers from overlapping at a register mechanism part provided on the upstream side of an image forming part when paper interval between the preceding and subsequent papers is made small and to prevent the overlapping papers from being fed to the image forming part. SOLUTION: If the front end of the subsequent paper reaches the register mechanism part 20 before the rear end of the preceding paper passes the register mechanism part 20, the subsequent paper is prevented from entering the register mechanism part 20 by a paper separating means 21, and overlapping of the preceding paper and the subsequent paper is prevented at the register mechanism part 20.
