PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new luminous material comprising a complex composed of an aromatic carbonyl compound and a metal ion, and capable of emitting excellent fluorescence. SOLUTION: This luminous material comprises the complex composed of the aromatic carbonyl compound and the metal ion, wherein the aromatic carbonyl compound preferably comprises naphthaldehyde, acetonaphthone or 10-methylacridone, and the metal ion preferably comprises a magnesium or scandium ion. The complex is preferably composed of the aromatic carbonyl compound and the metal ion together with anions comprising trifluoromethanesulfonate or perchlorate ions. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
