PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress generation of soot and generation of nitrogen oxide by sufficiently diffusing fuel spray within a combustion chamber, even if fuel is injected in the vicinity of a top dead point. SOLUTION: A cooling spot 8 is formed at a portion against which the spray 7 collides within the combustion chamber 2 of a piston 4. An oil line 9 is formed on a rear side of the piston 4 to introduce engine oil and pass the engine oil through the cooling spot 8. When the spray 7 injected from each injection port 6 of an injection nozzle 5 collides against the cooling spot 8, the spray 7 is cooled by the engine oil and is diffused within the combustion chamber 2.
