PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve actual vehicle performance while reducing weight. SOLUTION: This pneumatic tire has a carcass 6 comprising an inner carcass ply 6A having a hoisting part 6A2 and an outer carcass ply 6B disposed outside the inner carcass ply 6A. The inner end 6Bi of the outer carcass ply 6B extends to the axial inside of the hoisting part 6A2 of the inner carcass ply 6A and the inside in the radial direction of the tire of the outer end of the hoisting part 6A2 along a body part 6A1, and finishes outside the inner surface 5i of a bead core 5. Heat shrinkage factors of respective carcass cords of the inner and outer carcass plys 6A and 6B are 2% or higher. The inner carcass ply 6A and the outer carcass ply 6B have a directly contacting contact part 9 in a region including a position M of the tire maximum width. Length L1 of the contact part 9 in the radial direction of the tire is regulated at 5 mm or longer, and a distance between the carcass cords is regulated. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
